2026 Annual Exhibition 

Enter Our 40th Annual Exhibition

We invite WSQ members to be part of a milestone year as we celebrate our 40th Annual Watercolour Exhibition. Whether you’re entering the judged exhibition, displaying unframed work or miniatures, or offering cards for sale, you’ll find everything you need to prepare and submit your entries below.

 

Please read the Conditions of Entry carefully before submitting your entry.

  • Entry Opening Date: Monday, 7 July 2026

  • Entry Closing Date: Monday, 31 August 2026

  • Artwork Delivery: Tuesday, 15 September 2026, between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM

  • Opening Night: Thursday, 17 September 2026 (RSVP)

  • Exhibition Dates: Friday, 18 September - Sunday, 20 September 2026

  • Artwork Collection: Sunday, 20 September 2026, from 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM

Choose How You'll Take Part

There are several ways to share your work in our 40th Annual Exhibition. Enter your paintings for judging, offer smaller works for sale, or showcase your artwork on cards. Explore the options below, then read the Conditions of Entry for full requirements.

Judged Exhibition

(Traditional & Non-Traditional Watercolour)

Enter original watercolour paintings in our judged exhibition and compete for awards across our Traditional and Non-Traditional categories.

Judged entries must be frame in accordance with our framing guidelines below.

Miniatures

(Small original works - not judged)

Enter small original watercolour paintings for display and sale throughout the exhibition.

Works must be suitably mounted, backed and protected using archival quality materials for presentation at the exhibition.

Unframed Originals

(Original Watercolours for Sale - not judged)

Offer your original unframed watercolour paintings (traditional or non-traditional) for sale in our popular browsing display.  

Works must be suitably mounted, backed and protected using archival quality materials for presentation at the exhibition.

Cards for Sale

(Share Your Art in Print - not judged)

Offer greeting cards featuring your own original artwork or prints of original works for sale to exhibition visitors.

Cards must be individually packaged and labelled in accordance with the Conditions of Entry.

Entry Fees

​Entry fees for the judged categories (framed artwork) are based on the size of the original watercolour sheet used for the painting. The maximum size for a painting (or of a similar size if using other material in the non-traditional category) is restricted to A1 or a Full Sheet size. There are no restrictions on the size of matting or the overall framed dimensions.

Disclaimer

The Management Committee of the Watercolour Society of Queensland reserves the sole and absolute right to accept or reject any artwork submitted for the Annual Exhibition without providing justification. Their decision in this regard is final.
